When it come to recording anything the type microphone you use could make or break the track. There are for different types of microphones used in the music industry.

Dynamic Microphones
- These are the cheapest but also very durable. A dynamic mic is good for recording bass drums or guitars.
Large Condenser Microphones
- These mics require a power source referred to as phantom power in order for them to work. They are great for vocals they give them a well rounded sound.
Small Condenser Microphones
- These are the greatest for recording transients! This is great for clarity of hi-hats, guitars, pianos and more. Not good for recording leading vocals.
Ribbon Microphones
- These are also great for recording for vocals but they soften high and low end frequencies. These mics can not handle phantom power it will fry the inside.
