Mrs. Stephanie Keppich is the internship coordinator for the IUP Communications Media department. She credits her required internship at KHOU-TV in Houston, TX, as “the only reason I was hired in television”. Her career as a broadcast journalist in five TV markets, followed by roles as a media relations specialist in the healthcare and education fields and finally as a college instructor, makes her uniquely qualified to guide students through this culminating scholastic event.
She joined the Communications Media program in 2015 as a temporary faculty member after being awarded her master’s degree from IUP. She teaches courses in Television Production, Broadcast and Persuasive Writing and Live Sports Production. Several of her students’ live production events have competed with top-rated universities in PA, NJ and NY and won prestigious awards for their streaming of IUP football.
“Students at Comm Media at IUP are prepared to work in competitive and challenging fields in all aspects of media. I went to a large D1, R1 institution in a program that required an internship but offered zero guidance on how to get it. My drive and sense of adventure landed me an opportunity that changed the trajectory of my life.”
She believes the required internship in the Comm Media department is one of the most critical components of the program and strives to help interns and internship sites find each other!
