Only students who submitted a complete and signed Site Offer Form and Student Data Sheet by April 15, 2025 may participate in the Summer 2025 Internship Program. If you did not submit your papework on time, it is too late and you should immediately meet with your supervisor to work out a plan for graduation.

This message is for all subscribers who have confirmed internships through the IUP Communications Media Department Summer 2025 Internship program. Dr. Lenze is finalizing affiliation agreements now. By the beginning of May, the department will send out registration information for COMM 493 (undergraduate) and 793 (graduate).

Once you receive your email with registration information, you will have a week to register for the course. You will be assigned to a faculty supervisor and a specific section of the internship course. Students who do not register will not be able to start their internships.

Once you register, all questions related to the internship should be sent to your assigned faculty supervisor. Dr. Lenze will no longer be the internship coordinate once the Spring 2025 semester ends. He will not be available by email or phone. Dr. Lenze’s office hours are MWF 9-10 and MW 1:30-3. They will end on Monday, May 5th. His Zoom ID is 801 949 6325.

Internship applications are due tomorrow, April 15, 2025. There are two forms required to apply for an internship: the Site Offer Form and the Student Data Sheet. They are due, correctly filled out and complete, by tomorrow, April 15th. 

Absolutely no Site Offer Forms or Student Data Sheets will be accepted after April 15th!

Affiliation agreements are NOT due by April 15 and, you will remember, interns have NOTHING to do with Affiliation Agreements. Dr. Lenze verifies or establishes an affiliation agreement after he receives a Site Offer Form and Student Data Sheet that meet the requirements of the IUP COMM Internship Program. It may take weeks for Dr. Lenze to complete the affiliation agreement process as sites don’t always send the documents back promptly.

If you do not have an internship offer by this point, it is highly unlikely you will be able to get one in writing on a site offer form by tomorrow. In that case, you should either: (1) consider completing the internship next summer or (2) consider meeting with your advisor to change your program to Media Studies which does not require an internship to graduate.

This is a reminder that April 15th is the deadline for submitting signed Site Offer Forms and Student Data Sheets for internships in the summer 2025 semester. No application materials will be accepted after that date for any reason. If students received email from Dr. Lenze that there were problems with applications, resubmits are also due by no later than April 15, 2025.
