5th Blog Post

We’ve gotten to an era where almost everyone has a voice via the internet. The good thing is that people have become more opinionated and involved with world issues. The bad thing is that everyone can see your opinion if you put it out there and you can’t take it back.

It’s not always as easy as deleting the comment you posted. People have the power to take a screenshot of your comment and save it for later. This relates back to how employer’s view your social media interactions. Just because it’s not posted on your profile, doesn’t mean they can’t see the comments you posted on someone else’s profile. Not all of your comments have to be rude to offend someone. The slightest thing could be read wrong.

How to avoid having a big mouth on the internet:
– Delete people who post provocative media. If their posts regularly offend you, it’s best to just             get them off of your timeline and eliminate the urge to comment.
– Carefully choose your words while commenting. Do not belittle or generalize people while                 trying to educate them.
– Get rid of social media. If you can’t keep your opinion to yourself, at least limit the amount of             people it’s going to offend and get yourself off the internet.

I would recommend those in order if the first doesn’t work for you, move on to the 2nd and 3rd options. Your opinions matter to your employer, make sure that’s a good thing. Thinking about this, are you worried about any comments you may have made in the past? How could you go about fixing that?
