Biography

Hi, my name is Connor Joyce. Currently I am a Senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania studying communications media. Since I was a child, it has always been my dream to work in sports. As I grew up I found a passion in sports media and decided I wanted to become a sports broadcaster. I was given an opportunity with MLB.com to observed how their broadcasts operate when I was in high school and immediately fell in love. I began calling lacrosse games over the PA at my high school stadium and thought broadcasting was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I came to college more excited than ever to get involved in the programs that IUP had to offer. I began by working in the television studio by being an analyst for a sports talk show. I learned how the studio operated and developed skills in all areas. After my freshman year I began to fall in love with the production side of things. At that point I no longer wanted to be  the face on television,  I wanted to be a producer. My passion has since changed into learning all about how games and television is produced for the audience to watch. Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to work with companies such as NFL Network/Films, ESPN, and MLB.com. This has given me the ability to see how professional broadcasts are produced and has helped me in developing skills to bring to IUP for our football and basketball broadcasts. The last few years has given me a lot of experience in programs such as premiere, after effects, and photoshop which has helped make our broadcasts better than they have ever been. Also I have been employed at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex as the Audio Visual Supervisor. It has given me skills and an understanding in wiring the building so that we can produce games and other events on our jumbotron. I believe that all the skills that I have learned the last few years will help employ me after college. It’s exciting to think about the future, and it’s something I look forward to as I continue to develop myself and my skills in sports production and hopefully become a producer for a major network someday.
