Islamic Awareness Week- Talk by Shamsa Anwar

On behalf of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) student board, members and faculty advisors, I would like to invite you all to attend the fifth Islamic Awareness Day at IUP this Wednesday, April 12, 2017 starting at 4:00 PM in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building room 126. This is a public event and all are welcome to attend! FREE DINNER will be served after the talk!
In this event, Ms. Shamsa Anwar will speak about how Islam helped her cope with different situations in her life in the US as a first generation immigrant. Below you will find a short bio of her. Please invite all your friends and join us for an exciting and informative evening! Best regards.

Bio: Shamsa Anwar is a lecturer of Math at Penn State Altoona. Shamsa Anwar is the general secretary of Islamic Center of Altoona. She is a member of Ecumenical conference of greater Altoona and for decades, she has been a panelist on its Summer program. She has done many public presentations, speeches and discussions on religion at various institutions like Penn State Altoona, Saint Francis and Mount Aloysius colleges. She has been a moderator and presenter on many episodes of the local television program called “Abrahamic Faiths” since 1997. Shamsa Anwar was born in Pakistan, grew up in Saudi Arabia and moved to United States after marriage. For past eight years, she teaches in China as an invited professor during summer time. She is well traveled around the world and is no stranger to living a life among strangers
