“Starting a Conversation About Gun Violence”

In response to the recent shootings in the community surrounding IUP, the members of the Pre-Law Society have invited a an executive member of CeaseFirePA, Roberty Conroy, to speak at IUP. CeaseFirePA works to prevent gun violence through education and advocacy.
Speaker Rob Conroy is CeaseFirePA’s Director of Organizing and the Thomas Merton Center’s current Board President; he has been with both organizations since 2011 and has lived in and around the Pittsburgh area all of his life. Rob is also a “recovering lawyer”/ former prosecutor who serves on the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s Government Relations & Advocacy Committee as well as the Spectrum Charter School’s Board of Trustees. As a journalist, he has published in numerous Pennsylvania publications.
