Members of the IUP community have the opportunity for a special treat during the October 18, 2010, Six O’Clock Series in Fisher Auditorium. Common Freshman Reader Nickel and Dimed author Barbara Ehrenreich will be the special guest lecturer as part of her visit to IUP.
Ms. Ehrenreich will be attending a class, having dinner with IUP students, giving her lecture in Fisher Auditorium, and conducting a book signing immediately thereafter.
The Common Freshman Reader Implementation Team has planned an active visit to the campus for Ms. Ehrenreich. Timed with her arrival at IUP will be her visit to an undergraduate class that is currently utilizing the Common Freshman Reader as part of the class curriculum. This classroom setting offers an exciting opportunity for students to interact with the author in a smaller venue where questions and comments can be discussed.
Fisher Auditorium doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for Ms. Ehrenreich’s lecture. The author will lecture on her publication, Common Freshman Reader text Nickel and Dimed, as well as encourage questions from the audience. Immediately following the lecture, a book-signing reception sponsored by Phi Kappa Phi will take place in the Performing Arts Center mezzanine. Attendance vouchers will be available for audience members.
The Common Freshman Reader Implementation Team is pleased to extend this invitation to the IUP community, and looks forward to seeing you in Fisher Auditorium on October 18, 2010
