Not only should coaches and trainers be very educated on the risks that are involved, students and athletes should also be educated on the risks they are taking when they go out and play. There are schools that are able to take the time and resources to educate their athletes more on the sport they are playing, when they are more aware than more deaths and injuries can be prevented. Some athletes might think that their legs hurting while they are running isn’t serious enough to seek medical attention but it can turn out to be more serious, when they end up playing with hurting legs than they are out for the rest of the season because they have caused more damage by not seeking attention. When I first started playing basketball in high school, I was running at practice for a couple days and I started to feel this pain in my shins, I brought it up to coaches and teammates and they told me to eek attention. When I went to see the trainers at my school, they diagnosed me with shin splints and automatically started me on treatments to help my legs heal the proper way and in the fastest way so I can get back to playing basketball. There are some schools that may not have the resources to give their athletes a separate class for safety precautions, but they can educate the coaches more and have them set up a program where they take time out during some practices to tell athletes what they have learned and this will still help prevent injuries. Kids and teens that attend less fortunate schools may not know anyone who has ever participated in a sport and they join the sport without any knowledge at all and then they end up with injuries that could have been prevented if a coach or trainer gave the athletes lessons on the difference factors and risks when it comes to playing sports.
