Hi everyone! In this post, I’ll be sharing in detail the tasks and helpful information I learned from start to finish of my fashion show. This show was put together as a class project with each group member having different roles. With my love for light and audio set-up, I took this role with a creative mindset. At the start of planning ideas, visions of low lighting and soft-sounding music came to my head to pair with the overall theme, suicide.

For light production, I used candle lights to give the representation of “light in darkness”. In a 76′ x 56′ room, this not only drew the audience’s attention to the stage, it also made the photography interesting in terms of seeing the model at low light. The camera we used was a Canon EOS Rebel 7ti; a camera that is great for continuous shooting with moving subjects. This made photos of the models turn out strong and clear.  I also outlined the runway with low light bulbs. It was a simple action that made the stage stand out in a dark room.

For audio, making sure music has the same genre/theme is important to pair with the overall show’s theme. For my show, I used music that had different levels of frequency in each song. This made the portrayal of a person’s journey through depression; having challenging and modest periods. The first song had a long entrance before instrumentals started. This helped set the mood for how depression starts. Every song related to the journey through depression making the overall theme stand out more.

As my first project, I can say the experience was knowledgable and helped me understand the beginning of video production and arranging the atmosphere. Thank you for reading! Stay tuned for the next post. 🙂
