It’s a sad thing when the ‘land of the free’ isn’t treated as “free”, as the name suggest. For a country that was originally was stolen then built up by immigrants and slaves, how can one banish a person because they weren’t born in America? That’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing. Disturbing news hit the media yesterday about what the president is allowing to currently go on under his thumb. Families are being lied to and separated from each other at the border of the country. The worst part of it all is that young children are being put in “detention centers” like they are prisoners. Yes you read that correctly. These young children are literally being locked up and put in cages and the mothers of the children are being treated as if they are in fact dangerous criminals. For a place that promotes liberty and freedom, the current state of our government doesn’t seem to want that to be true of this country at all. This story truly breaks my heart. I feel like situations like these need to be discussed on the biggest stage so the fact the the hip-hop community is letting their voice be heard on the matter is a major thing. Plenty of artist and producers have taken to social media to share their thought on what’s going on. From A-list to C-list celebrity, the conversation is being held about this issue.  That is a start to fixing the problem. Their are currently bills that are being written to prevent anymore harm from being done, but they need votes to get passed by congress of course. However, media coverage and pressure from the world can make a huge difference in the outcome in a situation like this. That is if  people are aware of what’s going on. Which is why it is a great thing that the hip-hop community is using its platform to reach the masses and shed light to ongoing catastrophe. What do you think of this on going situation? I’m sure the people would like to leave their two cents as well, so do send this thread and circulate the CURRENT-cy.
