Te Ten Laws (Script Sample)

The Ten Laws is a story concept I have been playing around with for the last decade or so. It’s gone through several iterations and mediums. As a kid, I always felt it would work better as a graphic novel, whereas I wanted to turn it into a novel as a teenager. The plot is very cliche and uninspired, however, I was given the opportunity to work a scene from it into a script format thanks to the COMM 351 (Advanced Video Production) course in Fall 2019. The script itself received no feedback from the professor, but the format was given a perfect score. I feel that this script sample is a solid example as far as my scriptwriting capabilities go.

Radio Drama (Script Rough Draft)

This radio drama script was for an assignment in the COMM 350 (Advanced Radio Production) course in Spring 2018. Working in groups, my class was tasked with writing, recording, and editing a radio drama. In my group, I was in charge of the script and some of the voice-overs. The story was an amalgamation of my group’s favorite cyberpunk/dystopian stories, video games, and movies, and I was tasked with bringing that kind of cyberpunk world to life. I enjoy this script because, despite being a rough draft, it showcases my versatility in scriptwriting outside of visual mediums. My group received an “A” on the script alone.

Mods A Minute – Brutal Doom (Script)

This was a script that I wrote while producing Press Start. It was a segment that I was trying to pitch, and this particular script was for the pilot episode. The segment was filmed and aired in Fall 2018, but I wasn’t a fan of how it translated from paper to the screen, so I never wrote a second script. I still believe, however, that the script showed plenty of promise had the filming and editing shaped the finished product differently.

Dracula Creature Feature (Script)

This was one of the five scripts I wrote for Press Start’s “Creature Feature” segment that I was placed in charge of reviving. The segment was filmed and aired in Fall 2018. I am unaware of the feedback that this iteration of the segment received, though it is worth noting that the Creature Feature scripts that I wrote were ultimately what led to me being made a producer of Press Start in the first place.

Mad Max Fury Road/The Hero’s Journey (Film Analysis)

This was a film analysis that I had written on Mad Max: Fury Road in January 2020 for the ENGL 208 (Introduction to Film Studies) course. I was tasked with analyzing a film of my choice, answering some questions regarding it, and describing how it follows The Hero’s Journey. The analysis is structured differently than a normal report. The effort put into this paper led the professor to appoint me as one of the course’s four evaluators – a small group of students who help the professor grade papers throughout the semester.
