Facebook can arguably be the best social media site for a small business. With over 2 billion monthly active users, there is no doubt Facebook is a great tool to use for your small business. Facebook makes it easier to interact with customers. It also makes it easier to find and discover your business. Follow these steps below to create a Facebook business page.
Step 1: Sign up
Navigate to facebook.com/business. Click “Create a Page” in the top right-hand corner. There will be several business options to choose from. Choose the business type that your customers will most likely think of when they hear of your business.
After choosing which business type, Facebook will then ask you the name of your business, your address, and your Page category.
When you finish, click “Get Started.”
Step 2: Add Photos
Upload a profile image and cover image for your page. Make sure to use images that reflect your business. For example, use your logo as a profile picture, this will create brand awareness.
For your cover photo, use an image that is 820 x 360 pixels on desktop or 640 x 360 pixels on mobile. The image must be at least 400 pixels wide and 150 tall. Once you have selected the right image, click “Upload a Cover Photo”
Step 3: Explore your Page
Follow the quick walkthrough features to find out how to navigate around your page. Now that the outline of your page is completed it’s time to add the content to your page.
Step 4: Add a Description
Click “Add a Short Description.” Make sure to keep it short and sweet. Come up with your perfect elevator speech. This is your chance to pitch your business with 155 characters or less.
Click “Save.”
Step 5: Create a Username
You can have up to 50 characters for your username. Make sure it is easy to type and easy to remember. The best username is the name of your business.
Click “Create a Username for Your Page” to set up your URL.
When you are done, click “Create Username.”
Step 6: Create your About Section
Write the most important information about your business. For example, the time you are open/close or the best way to contact you for business.
Click “About” located on the left-hand menu. Here, you can add a longer description of your business along with contact information.
You can also specify your business location and hours by clicking “Edit Page Info” on the top-right menu. Once all of that is complete, click “Save Changes.”
Step 7: Create a Post
You are going to want to create a post before you start to invite people to like your page. This provides content and establishes trust for your customers. Once that is complete you are now ready to engage with your customers.
