Do I Need a Full-Time Internship?

The short answer is, no. A part-time internship that provides you with 25 hours a week is more than enough to meet the internship requirements set by IUP!

You need 360 hours for an undergraduate internship and 240 hours for a graduate internship. You may use up to 40 hours to work on classwork related to your internship course, either COMM 493 or COMM 793 toward your hours. That means you need 320 hours of work on site for an undergraduate internship or 200 hours for a graduate internship.

There are 13 weeks between May 8th and June 4th in 2023. Accounting for two federal holidays, you could work up to 504 hours this summer at 40 hours a week. So, you don’t need a full time internship. You could work 25 hours a week and have 325 hours by August 4th. That’s more than enough!

So again, a part-time internship that provides you with 25 hours a week is more than enough to meet the internship requirements set by IUP!

The Washington Center Will Visit IUP!
