External Remote Internship

This opportunity is available to all Communications Media interns who already signed up for the COMM Department Remote Internship. You would transfer from working for a Communications Media Faculty member to working for this organization.

Potential Internship 1: IUP Dressed for Work Closet Promotional Intern

Job Description: The intern for this position would brainstorm, develop, create, and disseminate promotional materials for the IUP Dressed for Work Clothes Closet (Closet), a new resource for students in need of workwear. Intern would develop and design promotional materials for digital media, print media, promotional flyers, and email distribution. Flyers would have two distinct messages: 1) encourage donations to the closet from IUP faculty, staff, and administration; and 2) encourage use by students needing appropriate workwear for internships, job interviews, and future careers.

Deliverables:

  • Weekly Zoom meeting with faculty supervisor to discuss current projects.
  • Weekly email to faculty supervisor and Comm Media faculty on progress in internship and accomplishments.
  • Digital media materials (Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc) designed to encourage students to utilize the Closet.
  • Digital media materials (Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc) designed to encourage donations from faculty, staff, and administrators to the Closet
  • Promotional flyers designed to encourage donations
  • Promotional flyers designed to entice students to visit the Closet.
  • Print media write-ups for submission to the Penn and other print media to encourage donations and use of the closet.
  • Progressive email campaign designed to develop, encourage, and maintain an ongoing donation-pool from faculty, staff, and administrators to the Closet.
  • Other materials as requested/appropriate to donation and use campaigns.

Expected timeframe: Summer 2020

Potential Internship #2: Adult Learner Outreach Promotional Intern

Job Description: The intern for this position would work with faculty supervisor and members of the Adult Learner Outreach team to develop promotional materials designed to encourage adult learners from a six-county area (Armstrong, Cambria, Clearfield, Indiana, Jefferson, Westmoreland) to seek admission to IUP for the purpose of starting or finishing their bachelors’ degrees. Intern would use demographic data provided by the faculty supervisor to tailor the message(s) appropriately to the various targeted potential students.

Deliverables:

  • Weekly Zoom meeting with faculty supervisor to discuss current projects.
  • As-scheduled Zoom meeting with Adult Learner Outreach Team to discuss progress on project(s) assigned.
  • Weekly email to faculty supervisor and Comm Media faculty on progress in internship and accomplishments.
  • Digital media materials (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, LinkedIn) designed to encourage adult learners to seek out information on programs at IUP.
  • Digital media materials designed to encourage adult learners to enroll in programs at IUP.
  • Promotional flyers designed to share information about IUP programs to adult learners (inclusion of QR code on flyers)
  • Promotional flyers designed to encourage enrollment by adult learners in IUP programs (QR code on flyers)
  • Print media write-ups designed for placement in or pick-up by print media in six county area.
  • Digital and on-air media write-ups designed for placement in or pick-up by digital and on-air media in six county area.
  • Progressive email campaign designed to share information about IUP programs, encourage enrollment in IUP programs, and provide outreach to adult learner population about programming/resources designed for their unique needs.
  • Other materials as appropriate or needed to share information or encourage enrollment of adult learners.

Expected Timeframe: Summer 2020 (could go into Fall 2020 if you needed another internship)
