The COMM Interns Manual & lectures mentioned that the university offers internships through IUP-TV, IUP-FM, and the CMPR. How would a student go about obtaining one of these internships?

This is sometimes true. You would contact the coordinator of the TV station, Dr. Kleinman, the coordinator of the radio station, Mr. Albright, or the coordinator of the CMPR, Ms. Keppich. The mistake made by most applicants is that they falsely believe that (1) this is a less formal application, (2) these organizations are required to take all applicants because they are part of the COMM department, and (3) tuition is waived because you are working for IUP. All three of those points are incorrect!

The truth is as follows. (1) You should formally apply by starting the process with a cover letter, resume, and reference list sent to the appropriate coordinator in hopes of securing an interview. (2) These operations are not required to take any interns, may not opt to take interns in any given summer, and may set very high qualification requirements like a high GPA, prior work experience, etc. (3) Tuition is not waived because you are working for IUP.
